Live Music and Nightlife
Blanco: Real Ale Brewing Co. has something worth making the drive for this Saturday — the Jesse Stratton Band plays the taproom beer garden from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. It's a perfect afternoon window: early enough to beat the evening crowd, late enough to make it a proper outing. And while you're there, ask about the 30th Anniversary limited release they have on tap now — it won't be around much longer.
Insider tip: The taproom runs Wednesday through Sunday. If you're coming Saturday for the show, stake out a table right at 2:00 PM when the music starts — the beer garden fills once the first set gets going.
New Braunfels: Freiheit Country Store hosts the Timothy Noel Band this Saturday, May 23, at 7:00 PM — then pivots to Sunday Funday on May 24 with live music starting at 1:00 PM. Two different tempos at the same century-old dance hall in one weekend.
Insider tip: Saturday at Freiheit fills fast once a headliner is posted; arrive by 6:30 PM to get a spot near the floor. Sunday Funday is the slower, more local vibe — easier to park, easier to breathe, better for a group conversation.
New Braunfels: Pour Haus runs live music nightly, and this weekend's lineup is worth the trip downtown: 3 Man Front takes the stage Saturday, May 23, at 8:30 PM, and Timber Wilde closes out the weekend Sunday, May 24, at 8:30 PM. The open-air patio on W. San Antonio Street is where downtown New Braunfels ends up after 8:00 PM.
Insider tip: Pour Haus opens at 1:00 PM on Saturdays — the early afternoon hours are ideal for a quieter drink before the music crowd arrives. If you're coming for 3 Man Front, plan to be there before 8:00 PM. Memorial Day weekend packs the patio early.
Local Eats and Drinks
Canyon Lake: Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Grill is the right call for Saturday morning before the music starts. They now have two Canyon Lake locations: the newer North spot at FM 306 (open 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM Saturday) and the original South location at FM 2673 (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM). Both run full breakfast and lunch menus plus the hand-made pastries they built their name on — sourdough, seasonal danishes, artisan loaves.
Insider tip: The FM 306 North location opened this spring and still flies under the radar. Go there on a Saturday morning if you want a table without waiting — the South location reliably has a line by 9:00 AM.
Community and Events
Bulverde: Bulverde Market Day returns this Saturday, May 23, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 2545 Bulverde Road. This is a makers-only market — 30+ vendors selling handmade art, specialty foods, and artisan goods. No resellers, no service booths. Just the people who actually made what's on the table.
Insider tip: Bulverde Market Day runs every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Go before 11:00 AM while the food vendor inventory is fresh and the shade is still good. Parking is available in three areas along Bulverde Road.
Canyon Lake: CountryFest at Holiday Harbor returns to the amphitheater this Sunday, May 24, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM — free admission, with Bryan White, Deana Carter, David Cook, and Collin Raye all on one bill. Two LED screens are set up onshore, and a third faces the lake for boaters watching from the water.
Insider tip: CountryFest is a Canyon Lake POA event, open to community residents and their guests. If you have a friend or neighbor who lives in the subdivision, this is the time to call them. Headliner-grade country music, free, on the water, on Memorial Day weekend — it doesn't come around often.
