Bulverde does not have a single music district. What it has is a handful of places within about ten minutes of each other, each doing something different on a weekend night, from a working rodeo arena to a wine bar with a songwriter in the corner.
Here is where to find it, and what each night is like. If you would rather get this in your inbox every Thursday, the form is right here.
Tejas Rodeo Company: acoustic sets Friday, rodeo plus a band Saturday, March through November.
Tejas Steakhouse & Saloon: dance hall on the rodeo grounds, Wednesday through Saturday.
Specht's Texas: weekend music on the patio, plus a Sunday open mic from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
Vine in the Village: small wine bar, open mic Thursday, acts Friday and Saturday.
Twine Bulverde: wine bar and bistro with live music. Call to find out who is playing.

The Saturday Night Rodeo is the closest thing Bulverde has to a signature event, and the music is part of the package. It runs every Saturday from the first weekend in March through the last weekend in November, with live music and dancing on the grounds from 7:30 PM. On Fridays there is an acoustic set from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and the calendar names the performer each week.
Tickets have been running in the $50 to $60 range, and fall Saturdays sell out with regularity. The booking page carries current pricing.
Insider tip: buy ahead and get there early. The stretch before the first event is when the grounds are easy to walk and the food line is short.

Part of the same complex as the rodeo, open Wednesday through Saturday, with a dance floor built for two-stepping.
Insider tip: this pairs with the rodeo. Eat at the steakhouse before the rodeo starts, then come back to the saloon after the last event. You have already paid for the parking.

A Hill Country saloon that has been in business since 1890, with a refreshed menu and patio. Live music on weekends, and a newer singer-songwriter open mic on Sundays from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Kids eat free on Thursdays, with a magician.
Insider tip: the Sunday open mic is the quieter way in if you would rather hear the music than shout over it. Friday and Saturday nights on the patio are louder, in the good way.

Small and built for listening. An open mic on Thursdays and different acts on Friday and Saturday nights, which makes it the answer when you want music without a crowd.
Insider tip: it seats a fraction of what the other places here do, so a good act fills it fast. Get there early.
A neighborhood wine bar and bistro on Bulverde Road with live music, a cigar lounge, and a yard that works if you have kids with you. They do not post who is playing, so call ahead if the band is the reason you are going. Closed Monday.
Insider tip: the yard is the reason to come. If the weather is decent, skip the indoor tables.
Cibolo Creek Eatery & Venue on Bulverde Lane is a restaurant first, but it hosts events too. It is a different business from the Cibolo Creek Vineyards that used to sit at that address, so an old review is not about this place. cibolocreekeatery.com
Spring Branch adds Screaming Goat Yard & Tap, Bourbon & Branch, Max's Roadhouse, and Throwbacks on 46. Blanco adds Redbud Cafe and Real Ale. The weekly email covers all of it.
For the daytime version of this list, see Things to Do in Bulverde and Things to Do in Spring Branch.
Most of these venues confirm their weekend lineups a few days out, and several post to Instagram or Facebook and never touch their websites. If you would rather not check six pages every Thursday, that is the job we do.
The Hill Country Hot Ticket is a free weekly email covering live music, food, and weekend events across Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, and Blanco. It goes out Thursday mornings and takes about two minutes to read.
The weekend, distilled.
