The Hill Country Hot Ticket
June 12 -- June 15, 2026
The weekend, distilled -- a curated insider's guide to live music, food, and events across Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, and Blanco.
Live Music and Nightlife
Bulverde: Specht's Texas is one of those Hill Country landmarks that everyone has driven past but not enough people have actually walked into -- and this is the weekend to fix that. The 136-year-old saloon on Specht Road has live music Thursday through Sunday, and this weekend's Saturday headliner is the Chilton Vance Band from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Friday night brings the Matt Tejeda Duo from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and Sunday is their musical brunch followed by an afternoon set.
Insider tip: Kids eat free on Thursdays, and Sunday brunch starts at 10:00 AM with live music from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM -- one of the few true musical brunch options in the Hill Country. The patio and grounds are spacious, so you can spread out even on a busy Saturday night.

New Braunfels: Redbird Listening Room has two shows worth circling this weekend. Friday night, Jason Eady takes the stage at 7:30 PM -- the Mississippi-born, Texas-adopted songwriter who builds sets around Merle Haggard-grade honky-tonk and Americana that hits different in a 60-seat room. Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM, Brandon Rhyder brings his Texas country catalog to the same intimate stage.
Insider tip: The Redbird seats 60 people. That is not a typo. These shows sell out, so buy tickets ahead at redbirdlisteningroom.com. Once you're in, there is no bad seat -- every chair is within arm's reach of the stage. No talking during sets; this is a true listening room.

New Braunfels: Cowboys & Cadillacs hosts Dylan Wheeler Live Unplugged on the rooftop this Saturday, June 13, from 8:00 PM to midnight. Wheeler is a rising name in the Texas acoustic scene, and the rooftop at 125 N Castell Ave is one of the better spots in downtown NB to catch a set with a view.
Insider tip: The rooftop fills fast on Saturday nights -- email [email protected] to reserve a table, or arrive before 7:30 PM to grab a spot at the bar. The kitchen runs a full upscale menu, so plan to eat here rather than before.

Canyon Lake: High Cotton Texas Tavern has Erik Flores on Friday night and John Eustrom on Saturday -- both free shows starting at 7:00 PM, with SATX Barbecue serving on-site both nights. The indoor bar specializes in Texas bourbons, beers, and wines, and the Cigar Shack out back rounds out the evening.
Insider tip: Happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. If you're heading out for the Friday set, get there at 4:00 PM, grab a discounted pour, settle into the patio, and you'll be perfectly posted up when the music starts at 7:00 PM.
Local Eats and Drinks
Spring Branch: Rebecca Creek Distillery is one of the Hill Country's best-kept Friday night plans. This Friday, June 12, is their Fine Tuned Friday featuring live music and karaoke starting at 4:00 PM. Saturday brings another round of live music, and Sunday is Family Funday with activities and tunes from noon to 7:00 PM. The tasting room pours Rebecca Creek Whiskey, Enchanted Rock Vodka, and Texas Ranger Whiskey -- all distilled on-site in their custom German copper pot still.
Insider tip: They've replaced traditional tours with tasting seminars -- book ahead for that. But you don't need a reservation to walk in, grab a cocktail, and catch the music. Food trucks rotate through every weekend, and the outdoor picnic area is family-friendly.
Blanco: Milam & Greene Whiskey is the kind of Saturday afternoon that makes you forget about everything else. The distillery's tasting room and outdoor patio sit under old oak trees, with live music on Saturdays and a food truck usually parked on-site. Their 2024 Master Distiller of the Year accolade is well-earned -- the flagship triple-cask bourbon and the port-finished rye are both worth the drive.
Insider tip: Bring a picnic blanket and a group. You can sample flights at the bar and then spread out under the oaks for the afternoon set. Well-supervised dogs and kids are welcome. Call ahead at (830) 833-3033 to confirm the food truck schedule.
New Braunfels: Naegelin's Bakery is the oldest bakery in Texas -- operating since 1868 on Seguin Avenue -- and Saturday morning is when it shines. Kolaches, strudel, fresh sourdough, and strong coffee. The line forms early, but it moves fast.
Insider tip: Get there before 9:00 AM on Saturday for the full pastry selection. The apple strudel and cream cheese kolaches go first. Open Sunday too, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, if Saturday doesn't work out.
