The Hill Country Hot Ticket
June 19 – June 22, 2026

The weekend, distilled — a curated insider's guide to live music, food, and events across Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, and Blanco. This one's stacked: Juneteenth on Friday and Saturday, Father's Day on Sunday, and the dance halls and town squares are ready for all of it.

Live Music and Nightlife

New Braunfels: Gruene Hall — the oldest dance hall in Texas — bookends the weekend. Friday, June 19, Larry Joe Taylor brings his coastal-and-western catalog to the stage with special guest Presley Haile opening at 8:00 PM and LJT on at 9:15 PM (doors 7:00 PM, $20 general admission). Then make it a Father's Day tradition: South Austin Moonlighters play a free afternoon set Sunday, June 21, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

Insider tip: Gruene Hall is first-come, first-served — no reserved tables outside of VIP. Friday's ticketed show fills up, so get there at doors for a spot near the stage. Sunday's free 3:00 PM set is the easy move if you want to bring Dad without a late night; the side flaps stay open and the back tables catch the breeze. Bring cash for parking.

Bulverde: Vine in the Village is Bulverde's intimate wine bar in a restored 1911 building on Bulverde Road, and Friday and Saturday evenings are when the live music and the patio come alive. A curated wine list, artisan pizzas, and charcuterie boards make this the date-night standout without the Gruene crowds.

Insider tip: Vine opens at 4:00 PM and runs late on weekends. The front patio is dog-friendly and the interior is cozy and low-lit — grab a glass and a board before the music starts, because Friday nights fill up fast.

Spring Branch: Bourbon & Branch is the neighborhood spot on US-281 that locals drive past without realizing how good the weekends get — live music Friday and Saturday, a deep whiskey and cocktail list, a pool table, and a food truck parked out front. Low-key, local, and easy to make a night of close to home.

Insider tip: It is a true neighborhood bar — walk in, grab a stool, and you'll know names by last call. Saturdays run until 1:00 AM; Thursday is karaoke and Sunday is open mic if the weekend gets away from you. Check their Facebook for this weekend's lineup.

Local Eats and Drinks

Canyon Lake area: The Honeysuckle sits right on the ridge of the Devil's Backbone in Fischer, and the open-air rooftop may have the best sunset view in the Hill Country. Southern plates, craft cocktails, and live music every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on the patio. It's named for “Honeysuckle Rose,” the 1980 Willie Nelson film shot on the property — a fitting Father's Day drive.

Insider tip: Head up to the rooftop deck for the panoramic Backbone views — worth the climb. Happy hour runs Wednesday through Friday, 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday, so make it a weekend run.

Blanco: Uptown Blanco Restaurant on Main Street is the square's upscale anchor, and Sunday brunch from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM makes it an easy Father's Day reservation. The restored historic building, locally inspired Americana menu, and weekend patio seating put it among the better brunch tables in the Hill Country.

Insider tip: Reservations are strongly recommended — call (830) 833-0738 to book. Saturday dinner runs until 9:00 PM if Sunday doesn't work. The crab cakes and chicken fried steak are both worth the drive.

Community and Events

New Braunfels: The city's Juneteenth Celebration lands Saturday, June 20 at Fischer Park, hosted with the New Braunfels MLK Association. Free and family-friendly — live music from Soul Sessions, food trucks, a story walk out to the Nature Center, and kids' crafts. (Heads up: many City facilities are closed Friday, June 19 for the holiday.)

Insider tip: Fischer Park lots fill early on event days — come in from the Hilltop entrance and bring a blanket for the lawn near the stage.

New Braunfels: Sunday, June 21 is Make Music Day — a worldwide celebration of live music, and New Braunfels goes all in with free performances across town from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, including stages around Market Plaza. Whether you play or listen, there's no cover anywhere.

Blanco: Blanco Market Day returns to the Old Blanco County Courthouse square Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (summer hours) — third-Saturday tradition, dozens of vendors, and the full shade of the courthouse live oaks.

Insider tip: Food vendors on the south side of the courthouse sell out first — start there, then loop the square. Pair it with a stop at Redbud Cafe or Old 300 BBQ for a full Blanco morning.
