July 9 – July 12, 2026

The weekend, distilled. Your insider's guide to live music, food, and events across Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, and Blanco. The Fourth is behind us, the dance halls are back to their regular rhythm, and there is a full weekend of Texas music waiting on the other side of Thursday.

Live Music and Nightlife

New Braunfels: Guadalupe Brewing Company pairs small-batch beer and blistered artisan pizza with a stage out in the beer garden all weekend. Friday, July 10, Philip Smith plays from 6:30 to 9:30 PM, a Texas multi-instrumentalist who has shared stages with Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, and Shane Smith & the Saints. Then Saturday, July 11, the Chris Boss Band takes the garden from 2:00 to 5:00 PM for an early-afternoon set.

Insider tip: The Pizza Kitchen counter opens at noon on Saturday and the taproom runs until 10:00 PM, so make an afternoon of it. Pets are welcome on the grounds, and the shade out back beats the July sun.

Canyon Lake: Maven's Inn & Grill is the low-key locals' pick, with live music on the big oak-shaded patio and no cover charge. Friday, July 10, Tejas Cajun brings the swamp-country to the lawn at 7:00 PM, and Saturday, July 11, Gentlemen Joe Talbert takes the stage at 7:00 PM. Fire pits, fans, yard games, and a full craft bar round it out.

Insider tip: Happy hour runs every day from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, so roll in early, grab a discounted pour, and you will be settled in before the 7:00 PM set. Family and dog friendly.

Bulverde: Twine Bulverde is downtown Bulverde's wine and cigar lounge, and the outdoor stage comes alive on weekend evenings. Beyond the live music, it is genuinely built for the whole family, with a playground, cornhole, and soft axe throwing out back while the grown-ups work through the wine list and the cigar patio.

Insider tip: This is the rare live-music spot where the kids have their own thing to do. Check their Facebook page for the weekend's act before you head out, and note they are closed Mondays.

Local Eats and Drinks

The Desert Spoon sits inside Spring Creek Gardens in Spring Branch.

Spring Branch: The Desert Spoon at Spring Creek Gardens is part garden center, part cafe, part hidden Hill Country oasis. Chef Tatu Herrera, of San Antonio's Folklores Coffee House, runs a farm-to-table kitchen with in-house pastries and wines on tap, all overlooking the gardens. Grab a glass, order a plate, and walk the grounds.

Insider tip: The property is more than the restaurant. There is a bakery and coffee shop, a wine bar, and acres of nursery to wander. Come hungry, then take your time in the gardens after.

Slow-smoked brisket at Old 300 BBQ, just off the Blanco courthouse square.

Blanco: Old 300 BBQ sits right off the courthouse square at 318 4th Street, slow-smoking Central Texas barbecue that has earned a spot on the Texas Monthly radar. Brisket, ribs, and sausage, plus the usual roster of house sides.

Insider tip: Get there early. The brisket sells out, and once it is gone, it is gone. They run 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Sunday. Pair it with a loop around the square.

Community and Events

Galleywinter River Jam runs July 10-12 across San Marcos and New Braunfels.

New Braunfels: Galleywinter River Jam rolls into town this weekend, a three-day celebration of the next wave of Texas and Red Dirt music. Saturday, July 11, the party lands at The Happy Cow starting at 8:00 PM with Presley Haile, Nick Brumley, Race Ricketts, Nyles, and a full-band close from The Smokin' Oaks. Then Sunday, July 12, it winds down at the Lone Star Float House on a donations, no-cover basis, a proper Sunday on the river to send the weekend off.

Insider tip: Sunday at the Float House is the easy, no-cover way in, and it is made for a lazy afternoon on the water. If you want the Saturday show at The Happy Cow, grab tickets ahead of time.

On the radar: Randy Rogers Band brings Pat Green and Slade Coulter to Whitewater Amphitheater on Saturday, July 11, the marquee show of the weekend on the banks of the Guadalupe. Doors at 6:30 PM, music at 8:00 PM. Parking is cash only and there is no re-entry, so come ready to settle in for the night. Tickets at whitewaterrocks.com.
